Metamorphosis: “Into the Word” Week 36

I love butterflies.  They remind me of how God works.  What was once just a worm-like caterpillar transforms into a beautiful masterpiece for all to behold.  What a beautiful picture of redemption!

I long to be a butterfly — beautiful and freely flying, a picture of God’s glory.  Right now, however, I am in the midst of a trial — the metamorphosis process is painful, confusing, and dark.  But, I am trusting in His care.  I am holding on to faith.  I am praying for a breakthrough.

This week, as I was digging “Into the Word” , I discovered a verse that speaks of this very same metamorphosis:

In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while,

if need be, you have been grieved by various trials,

that the genuineness of your faith,

being much more precious than gold that perishes,

though it is tested by fire, may be found

to praise, honor, and glory

at the revelation of Jesus Christ.

I Peter 1:6-7, NKJV

Golden faith that never perishes — this is what the refiner promises us.  Isn’t that wonderful?  The fire is a painful place to be, but God has a purpose for our suffering. He is working all things together for our good.

Q4U:  How does the image of the butterfly encourage you in your walk?

Every Monday we will be working our way through Anne Graham Lotz’s 52-week study “Into the Word.”    Hop on over to the 3dLessons4Life Blog Facebook Page to join us as we dig into God’s Word together.
