I AM: “Into the Word” Week 31

For 17 years, I was a single lady and a high school English teacher.  My maiden name echoed down the hallways of the school on the lips of my pupils.  Just this week, I ran into a former student, and she still called me “Miss Lopez.”  To her, I will always be that person, even if my last name changed several years ago.  My identity is etched in stone to her.

This week while I was digging  “Into the Word,” I was reminded that Christ has more than one name — His identity has many facets, each name ministering to our present need.   In John 8 when questioned, Christ stated: “Most assuredly, I say to you, before Abraham was, I AM” (v.58, NKJV).

What is your need today?  Christ is very present.  He says to you…

I AM… your Help.

I AM…your Healer.

I AM…your Guide.

I AM…your Comforter.

I AM…your Provider.

I AM…your Defender.

I AM…your ALL.

Q4U:  How has God been your I AM?  What name of Christ do you most identify with as His child in need?

Every Monday we will be working our way through Anne Graham Lotz’s 52-week study “Into the Word.”    Hop on over to the 3dLessons4Life Blog Facebook Page to join us as we dig into God’s Word together.

  1. He has shown up in a profound manner as my Healer. Doctors had confirmed me incapable of ever conceiving but God had a different verdict. I have three great boys as proof that God is The Greatest Physician.
Thanks for this awesome reminder and have a blessed day!

  2. Hi there

I’m your neighbour over at Shanda’s place. What a beautiful post…it reminds me of a song written by Steve Kuban “Hallowed be thy Name” http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e1g1fwycGHs
At this point, in this season I would have to say that God is my All…he provides, he heals, he empowers. Its a lot to talk about here, (I’m writing about it in my blog this week) but I just suffered a miscarriage and God actually healed my body so that I wouldn’t have to endure an expensive D&C procedure. He sent me a good doctor who didn’t even charge me for all of his visits. God is just awesome..even in the midst of trial!

Thank you for sharing this..it is so inspirational! God bless and lovely to meet you.

  3. For me, He has been a healer. Multiple surgeries over the last six years with awesome and full recoveries has touched me that His hands are constantly at work in my life. Now, however, He is a comforter as we travel the devastating journey with my husband’s brother and his wife of his brother’s rapidly progressing dementia. We seek God’s comfort on a daily basis, and He comes to us in myriad ways. Thanks for calling out His various names to us.

    • Thank you for commenting, Sherrey. I recently had surgery, and although I was making progress, I am not feeling well this week — feeling like I am regressing. Your comment has truly encouraged me. Blessings to you, my sister. 🙂

  4. He is my defender. By making Him my defender I am able to release hurts caused by others up to Him and really forgive, as I am called to do. I don’t have to worry about trying to set things right because I know He’s got my back.
