Last night, we attended the Saturday evening services at our church. At the close of the sermon, the speaker provided an opportunity for those who had never made a profession of faith in Christ as their personal Savior to come forward and pray what we Christians call “the Sinner’s Prayer,” confessing Him as Lord. I always am so overjoyed to see folks come forward because I know what a gift they are about to receive — the gift of His presence in their lives. He never leaves us not forsakes us.
This week, as I was digging “Into the Word,” I came across a verse that perfectly highlights this gift:
For the Lord your God is living among you.
He is a Mighty Savior.
He will take delight in you with gladness.
With His love, He will calm all your fears.
He will rejoice over you with joyful songs.
Zephaniah 3:17
Isn’t that a wonderful promise? I am so thankful for the present of His presence. My ever-present God is able to see me through any situation. What peace that provides to my weary soul!
Q4U: How have you experienced the present of His presence during a dark season?
Every Monday we will be working our way through Anne Graham Lotz’s 52-week study “Into the Word.” Hop on over to the 3dLessons4Life Blog Facebook Page to join us as we dig into God’s Word together.

Amen. He is so good to us!
I love that verse, too! So beautiful.
To answer the question you ask above, one of the ways I experience His presence during dark times is by reading the Psalms. I’ve found so much hope and comfort from that book.
I love the Psalms as well. So comforting!
It is truly a gift to witness a soul saying yes to Jesus. I think we overlook that opportunity at our place of worship far too often, but God is greater than our well laid plans isn’t He? Nice to visit with you, its been awhile.
Thanks for stopping by!
I love the image of God rejoicing over me with joyful songs, I don’t think I’ve ever read that verse before..thanks!
It’s one of my favorite verses.
This is fantastic.
So glad you found my little spot on the web, Denise!
Believing that it is true and real – oh, how I love that scripture, that hope and that I dared to believe it is true!
Me, too.
Yes, it is a wonderful promise. Astounding in every way. Grateful for you, and your joy and your beautiful, Jesus-loving heart!
Thanks, Jennifer. You have the gift of encouragement.
What a wonderful reminder that God is living and active among us, taking great delight in His creation… thank you for this!
I love your perspective — He is living and active today. Awesome thought!
As I have indicated many times, if He hadn’t broken into my life, torn down the barriers, led me to Him, I would have been physically gone long ago — violence, alcoholism or suicide. I am one grateful woman — and have dear ones who are also glad I made it/He did it.. Nothing else in life truly counts; can be interesting, loving, enjoyable, serviceable — but only HE is “It”. Good sharing reminder.
So glad He has set us both free! Hallelujah.
It is always a JOY to see the lost come into God’s kingdom. The unsaved are such a burden on my heart, I know time is short. That is a beautiful scripture..Blessings
Agreed, Mary. Thanks for stopping by!
