I love bread. Don’t you? Warm right out of the oven. Mmm. It’s a guilty pleasure whenever we dine out at restaurants. Bread with rich butter spread on it makes my heart happy.
This week, as I was digging “Into the Word,” I came across the passage in John 6 where Christ says that He is the Bread of Life:
Jesus said, “I am the Bread of Life.
The person who aligns with me
hungers no more
and thirsts no more, ever” (v.35, MSG).
The word “align” in this translation struck me. This isn’t Jesus inviting you to a “have it your way” fast-food meal. No, this is the Savior of the Universe saying, if you yield to me, then you will be at peace with me forever. I pray that this week, God helps me to make a wiser choice — to not settle for the “quick fix,” but to really invest in Him and the food the truly satisfies.
Q4U: Do you find yourself sampling other fare, rather that the rich food He provides?
Every Monday we will be working our way through Anne Graham Lotz’s 52-week study “Into the Word.” Hop on over to the 3dLessons4Life Blog Facebook Page to join us as we dig into God’s Word together.

Oh, wow! I’ve never seen that translation before but it’s convicting, isn’t it? I think I’ll share that one with my kids, as well as the fast food analogy- love your reminder today.
Hopping over from Laura’s Playdates with God, and truly enjoyed your post and lovely blog. Thanks for sharing such amazing words and thoughts.
Glad you found my little spot on the web.
Oh yes, I’ve done the fast food bit, and the feasting on the Bread of LIfe by aligning with Him is soo much better, more nourishing, and sweeter! Thanks for this insight!
Thanks for stopping by!
What a lovely application to this scripture. Taking these words to heart today, my friend.
I am trying to as well!
I love these words! Very convicting and reassuring at the same time.
Yep. Hit me right in the gut.
Great thought, my friend! I, too, am reading through John right now. This is exactly what’s been hitting me, but you were able to really put your finger on it. It’s the aligment, which means making adjustments on my part if necessary. Thank you for your encouragement! Thinking of and praying for you!
Hugs.
Self examination is not my strong point. So the word align definitely caught my attention.
Anne Graham’s works have been such a blessing to me. Just Give Me Jesus is my favorite. Since Saturday I’ve made wheat bread and two kinds of rolls. Hard to stay out of. I’m thankful overdosing on the Bread of Life is a good thing! Instead it helps us “Lay aside the weight.”
I am just starting to dig into Lotz’s writing. I have some books by her on the shelf I want to read.
The “other fare” is tempting at times to my flesh but I have learned that His grace and mercy supplies every need and satisfies like no other,
stopping by from OYHT Blessings-
Jesus as the Bread of Life is one of my favourite images!
I love all the “I AM” statements in John.
